Summary

CA Weather does not collect, sell or share personal data with the developer or with advertisers. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and the developer runs no server that receives your data. The app talks only to Environment and Climate Change Canada's public weather services.

Location

If you allow it, the app uses your approximate location only to find the forecast for where you are. To load weather, air quality and warnings it contacts Environment and Climate Change Canada's public GeoMet service (api.weather.gc.ca): forecasts and air quality are requested by forecast site or station ID, and warnings are requested for a small area (about 1 km) around your coordinates. Weather icons are loaded from weather.gc.ca. Like any internet request, these requests reveal your IP address to the Government of Canada's servers, which handle it under their own policies. Your location is not sent anywhere else and is never received by the developer.

Stored on your device

Saved places, cached forecasts and your settings (language, time format, notification and widget choices, card order) are stored on your device only. On Android, if device backup is on, Android may include this app data in your Google backup. You can erase it by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.

Notifications

Weather warning, air quality, UV and daily summary notifications are optional and are generated on your device. On Android the app may use exact alarms so the daily summary arrives at the time you choose, and reschedules after a restart.

Permissions

Internet; approximate location; post notifications; schedule exact alarms (for the daily summary); receive boot completed (to reschedule after a restart).

Children

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
